You ever wonder what Happened to all the shit you loved when you were a kid?  Well most of the brands and shit are still around to some capacity...good or bad.  Music is a prime example but I have already covered some of that....much im sure to their chargin.  I have also hinted at the ahead subject in another blog...but didn't have sufficient time to dig into it any, with that said....Gonna talk a bit about one of my favorite childhood possessions, my comic collection, no more importantly what made them great at least to me then.....Yeah I bet about half of the hobo spider sitting hills have eyes extra's left when they saw I hadn't used any "abusive" language in the first paragraph....Read my first serial blog people, Im trying to be a bit more prolific, a bit more focused....i mean if you jack off everyday when you nut its not like she's gonna get pregnant right?  You gotta do that shit in moderation let that boom stick fill up...ok whatever, onto the real blog.
I was looking at some cards I recently acquired off ebay, I do time to time still grab things that I couldn't have in my childhood, I got a set of Mcfarlane Era spider-man cards for about seven bucks, very nice buy imo.  They feature work for the adjective-less spider man run that started in 99 written and penciled/inked by Tood Mcfarlane.  If you never read them...well your not missing a lot I wont lie, his themes were dark but unique his actually writing/scripting however...well it was the first work he had done in that field, though even at eleven I was like...this shit kinda sucks.
The big draw from this run was the art, and the art is even to me now phenominal.  Mcfarlane was cresting his fucking prime there, that shit was like fucking a supermodel you met at the bar and having her stalk you afterwards cause you were strokin harder than Jim Ross.  I was looking at the cards, many have great images, they look a bit duller than the originals if not recolored but thats beside the point, I was in awe again.  Its been twenty two fucking years since I first saw a lot of those....and im still shocked at it.  Say what you will about the image years or Mcfarlane helping kill comics, he did not, sorry fuckers.  Todd wanted to write for whatever reason, probably his many falling out with writers suche as david and michilline, and marvel let him.  He didnt ask to do that spiderman title, though im glad he did it if nothing for the art.   Then when Todd went on to image he actually was damn near monthly on spawn.  Who else of the first run could say the same?
So yeah stick the he helped kill or put comics on oxegen shit up your ass, that was at best just a symptom of the industry and its greed.  Back to what I was saying before I was so erroniously torn from my thoughts by remembering some fat donut fucking fanboi post about how todd killed comics,  These comics I suppose shaped me at least somewhat....yeah warped me maybe?  Quite mature themed when you got satan worship, child murder, serial killing, vampires lol but hey it was really aimed at a bit older market....they didnt have to sell it at walmart after all.  I guess Im becoming some fan boy from nostalgia looking at the old mcfarlane stuff, and no i do not like his new work.  That wacom he's using seems to have made him lazy or weak, his work doesent have that same appeal that same "BAM MOTHERFUCKER" factor it did....look at some of his work in amazing or the 1990 spiderman to see what this blog is refering to, ignore the words look at the pictures that shit would still turn heads even today
.  I think i burned up all my space here talking about todd's spiderman and how he didnt take comics into a van with the promise of candy.....i left out some key people and times but I think those would be suited better to a future blog...no not because Im out of material I have plenty of shit I think, know, or that anger's me trust me.  I just want to be able to really rip when i get to that shit.
Coming soon to a blog near you The I is not for Image.....and other strangnesses.....
