I promised myself not to blog today....since its not the weekend....but as with anything media related it was a lie a terrible untruth concieved of malicious propoganda and conjecture. No, not really, but that did paint one hell of a picture for you about where the mind may wander though. This is the continuation of a previous blog...as promised no lie...seriously not even for drugs...no not even for that much methadone and heroin...no this is the one to expose the conspiracy that was image comics, and the nineteen ninetys in the comic book industry. Of course with much fluff and bloatware I will come to irrational and otherwise medicated conclusions to questions noone really gives a fuck about anymore.
So to get this ball running a brief history of the who the why the what from the mind of a twelve year old...well as best as a guy over thirty can recall....oh and if you say its wrong, shady, made up.....go fuck yourself, write your own fucking image related blog with the real facts you little twat. Ok so light your meth pipe and pour yourself some kerosene cause this ones gonna be epic.....epic like the last thirtyfour thousand words about nothing blog I did but hey I know by now you love it. There can never be too much of a good thing....or a terrible bloated word repeating dyslesic toiletry of venom such as this. I couldnt even tell you when I found out about image...or how there was no mass spread intenet at the time...I didnt even know what the intenet was for that matter...so I didnt go to wizard comics.com for that shit....must have been In wizard I saw the split, or some friend did and called me like omfg everyone left marvel and are gonna go work for Malibu! Either way I was like wtf Malibu?? who the fuck works for Malibu, Malibu was a small time publisher of some comics like a hideous street fighter adaptation....sagat fucking killed ken in like issue one.....yeah....Then it got leaked it was going to be Image comics, published by malibu and Rob Liefeld was the figurehead behind it with Youngblood. Then after it was promo'd other guys announced their departure from marvel, Jim Lee, Jim Valentino, Erik Larsen, Todd Mcfarlane, Marc Silvestri, Whilce Portacio and started announcing their subsequent creator owned titles and this is really going nowhere fast...need some quick opinionation to recover readers....Ok folks here's some of it, Guys like Lee, Liefeld, Mcfarlane all got to launch new marvel comics in 1990-1991, this was probably spearheaded mainly by Mcfarlane and spiderman though hardly imo his fault, Then they gave him multiple bagged and unbagged covers...variants silver, gold, regular he sells millions of copies, then you get Liefeld I think though I dont remember who has bagged cards with his, sells millions of copies as well, then the bank gets broke when Lee's X-men hits and sells like seven million or so...well the other guys in the list...they worked on titles that sold of course, but not that sold millions of variant cover copies as far as I am aware. This was part of the nineties where comics were being lauded as investments....which inflated demand and sales beyond reason, hence the variants and gimmicks. Well even through this, Rob felt he wanted more freedom, to do his own characters, cant say stories as he was the primary plotter of x-force with Fabian Niceza scripting, yeah though I forgot didnt you hoe tryin to pass off greed in the name of artistic lisence. So all this is going on for a while, maybe a year or just over for each guy then rob drops off the face of the earth and announces the above image comic's with Young Blood, then the other guys quit their roles at marvel to embrace creative control of their own characters. Well Youngblood drops and sells like a million copies at 1.95...that's like double a regular comics price the time..so past paying a lil to publish it and the colorist and shitty author....Liefeld banks what well over a million dollars...this I'm sure did nothing to hurt the moral of the other image founders...and soon you had issues appearing from each creator selling a million copies or near to it of the first issues. Then....beside Spawn....you waited. You waited like a fucking year for the second issue, this was the first idication to me even then something was seriously wrong with this whole image thing, looking back Im thinking the I is indeed for something other than image...more like IDIOT's, demand somehow stayed so high from the image books they survived the year long travesty of delays, spawn hummed along at monthly to near monthly status of course, which kept me buying it above all others.....and also im sure subsequently making Todd a fortune above even that of what his compatriots were making...and is this a blog or some kind of fucking essay? But I and the mexican reader ship digress....Gonna have to roll this one over to a two parter We will call it....Partnercide.......and get down to the dirty jobs like my name was Steve , see you then or when monkeys fly out of your butt...then back into your mouth....or in a week whichever comes first.
